Singapore Polytechnic School Of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering(SMAE) has organized an Overseas Community Involvement Programme consisting of a Pre and Post OCIP at St. Luke's Hospital at Bukit Batok from 19 to 21 of March 2012 and a trip to Sri Lanka from 22 March 2012 to 5 April 2012 to do various community services.
Our first step would be to visit and do community service at St. Luke's Hospital. Upon going there in February to have a look at the current situation and then to brainstorm the needs of the hospital to regain its vitality. We decided that the flowerbed at the balcony on the first level needed a shelter and gravel to make the flowerbed look more lively.
Another situation found was that rain often comes to some common areas of the hospital and people can slip easily. The hospital has installed blinds to prevent the rain from coming in but was not effective. Thus we decided that we needed slip-free mats.
